Handling the PANELS

The average weight of the Wallpanels is 2.7 Kg/sqm, so they can be easily carried manually; however, we recommend complying with the following instructions for cutting and perforating Wallpanels is lightweight and easy to handle, therefore easy to cut and perforate.

To cut Wallpanels you can use the same tools and machinery Utilized for cutting wood (e.g. circular or radial saws, jigsaws water jet cutters). To perform accurate or complex shaped cuts, we recommend using the PANTOGRAPH.

To perforate the Wallpanels , if the holes to obtain have a diameter exceeding 8 mm. we recommend using hollow cutters mounted on a drill or grinder.

In case of holes with diameter lower than 8 mm, the manual perforation can be carried out with iron tips. We recommend not perforating close to the edges. For holes performed on site, the area around the hole must be sealed when installing.

We recommend not using the drill to perforate sheets and to pay attention to their corners, which must be protected with special plastic angular, during every handling phase.

Instructions for installation

Wallpanels is perfect for installation on existing coatings and allows renovating the environments without demolitions, reducing time and discomfort typical of renovations.

Coating installation

Wallpanels can be used to cover internal walls in homes, offices and public buildings and they can be installed on the same kind of support on which tiles with standard thickness can be applied (on concrete coatings, stone material, metal, existing ceramic, expanded concrete block masonry). Specifically, the thin and light weight make Wallpanels the ideal product for installation on existing coating, without the need to demolish, and for coating walls that require less increase of weight on the surface (installation on concrete or wooden agglomerate panels).

Instructions for installation on new walls

For installation on new walls, we recommend to ensure that the bottom is compact, free from cracks and dry. Before installing, ensure also that the maturation shrinkage is complete; verify that the wall is levelled (level if required) and clean the surface to be installed.

Instruction for installation on existing coating

Before installing, ensure that the existing coating is perfectly dry and correctly fastened. Even if only partially, cracked or detached tiles must be removed; the resulting spaces must be filled with appropriate concrete products.

Installation method

  • As glue, use adhesive for porcelain tiles (i.e. “Mapei Kerapoxy” Adhesive), ”SIGILFLEX” elasticizing admixture for swimming pools, or any two-component epoxy adhesive with the same features;
  • Full spread the adhesive on the surface to be covered. As panels are thin, in order to prevent the glue from leaking from the joints, the adhesive must be spread using a spatula with inclined teeth or with 4-6 mm teeth.
  • Install Wallpanels panels ensuring that the adhesive on the surface to be covered is enough to full cover the sheet rear.
  • Press the sheet using a rubber spatula and evenly beat the surface of the panels installed to make the product fully adhere and prevent any void or air bubbles.
  • We recommend positioning some paper tape on the external perimeter of the panels at least for 24 hours.
  • Use a spatula with 3 mm teeth also on the tile rear.
  • Ensure the complete glue filling between support and tile to prevent voids that can weaken the tiled surface.

Joints and sealing

When installing, we recommend using our seal between one panel and the other, always without joints. To optimize the impermeability of the product, we recommend plastering the external perimeter using our transparent polyurethane seal or similar silicone.

Ordinary maintenance

Ordinary maintenance of WALLPANELS does not require special operations, except the use of water and neutral detergents (use anti-static cloths). For ordinary cleaning, we recommend not using wax products or oily soaps. For evident or difficult stains, more aggressive detergents can be used, diluted according to the type of dirt to be removed, complying with the instructions indicated on the package. In case of surface scratches, they can be restored by simply using polish paste.
